SAN DIEGO–A 27 year-old female motorcyclist from Michigan was killed October 13 in a traffic collision on State Route 79.
Police said the motorcyclist was riding a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle, northbound on SR-79, north of Harrison Park Rd., at an unknown speed. A 43 year-old male from San Diego was driving a 2004 GMC Yukon southbound on SR-79 approaching the motorcycle. As the motorcyclist traversed a right hand curve in the roadway, she was unable to maintain her balance and ejected onto the roadway, directly into the path of travel of the GMC. The driver of the GMC attempted to avoid the downed motorcyclist by swerving to the left, but the right front tire drove over the motorcyclist.
The motorcyclist was transported to the Palomar Medical Center by Mercy Air 5 where she succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the GMC was uninjured.
No drugs or alcohol were suspected in this collision.
