San Diego, CA–The Medical Examiner’s Office conducted the autopsy Thursday of a 72-year-old inmate found dead at a north county detention facility, authorities said.
Gumercindo Alamos, a resident of Tijuana, Mexico, died from heart disease and diabetes. He was in a cell by himself. No evidence of foul play was discovered, according to the Medical Examiner’s report.
On December 1, around 3 p.m., deputies at the Vista Detention Facility found Alamos unresponsive in his cell. Deputies and medical staff immediately performed life-saving measures until relieved by fire department personnel. Alamos was pronounced dead at the facility.
Alamos was booked into custody by the San Diego Sheriff’s Department on October 13 for three counts of lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 14.
