Man Who Attempted To Surf Escondido Flood Channel Identified

February 16, 2019 By sdcnews

Escondido–The San Diego County Medical Examiner released the identity of the man who died Thursday while attempting to surf in the Escondido flood channel by his home.

The victim was identified as 62-year-old James Michael Miller, of Escondido.

During the heavy rainfall, witnesses saw Miller take his surfboard to enter the channel. After they lost visual contact with the man, a 911 call was placed.

Escondido firefighters and San Diego Swift Water Rescue Team crew pulled the man’s body from the channel and brought him to land. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
