Man Walking In Crosswalk Struck By Vehicle

ENCINITAS–A 61-year-old male walking in a crosswalk in Encinitas was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop for the red signal.

The 6:32 a.m. Monday collision occurred at Leucadia Boulevard and Town Center Place in Encinitas, according to North Coastal Sheriff’s Station.

A 61-year-old female driver was traveling westbound on Leucadia Boulevard, and did not stop for the red signal at the intersection of Town Center Place. The pedestrian was crossing northbound on Leucadia Boulevard in the crosswalk and was struck by the driver’s vehicle.

The pedestrian sustained serious injuries to his right leg and was transported to Scripps La Jolla Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of his injuries.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this collision.

The investigation is continuing.
