Oceanside, CA–A gunman Thursday morning shot a man that left him with serious injuries at the Oceanside Transit Center, Oceanside police said.

Oceanside police responded to a 7:15 a.m. report of a  shooting at the transit center at 195 South Tremont Street. When officers arrived, they found a 31-year-old man who had sustained gunshot wounds to his abdomen and left hand. He was life-flighted to Scripps Hospital in La Jolla and is currently listed in stable condition, according to Oceanside police spokesperson Tom Bussey.

The transit center was closed for an hour as officers searched for the suspect described as a white man approximately 5-feet, 7-inches tall, and 140 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair. He has tattoos under each eye.

The transit center reopened around 9:30 a.m., but the gunman was still at large.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Oceanside Police Department’s Crimes of Violence Unit at (760) 435-4619.
