Man Shoots At Tow Truck Driver For Repossessing A Vehicle

April 13, 2018 By sdcnews

POWAY–Authorities arrested a Poway man who shot at a tow truck driver while he repossessed a vehicle in Poway.

Sheriff’s deputies identified the man who fired the shotgun as 46-year-old Joseph Silva. Deputies took Silva into custody at the scene and recovered the shotgun. Silva was booked into jail for attempted murder and several other felony charges, including firearms offenses and drug possession. He is being held without bail.

Silva’s companion, 28-year-old Bonnie Baker, was present during the altercation. Detectives arrested Baker on April 11 for several felony charges related to the original incident. Deputies booked Baker into jail.

On April 9, at about 2:30 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies responded to the shooting in the 16900 block of Old Coach Road.

While a tow truck driver was repossessing the vehicle, a man armed with a shotgun confronted the driver. As the driver tried to leave with the repossessed vehicle, the man discharged the shotgun at him.

The tow truck operator and the man were still on the property when deputies arrived.

Poway detectives submitted the case to the District Attorney for prosecution.
