SAN DIEGO—The driver of a Nissan Titan that left a injured child on the road after his vehicle struck a guard rail was arrested today, CHP investigators say.
Angelo Fabiani Arroyo, 40, was located in the city of Imperial Beach and was taken into custody by California Highway Patrol investigators.
At approximately 8:05 p.m., a black 2004 Nissan Titan pulling a small water craft trailer southbound on I-5 approaching Rosecrans Street drifted to the right and struck a metal guard rail. The Titan then struck a tree and came to rest on its side on top of a concrete retaining wall over Jefferson Street, car towing services were required to move the Nissan.
Arroyo allegedly exited the Titan and attempted to remove a 4 year old child from the vehicle. After removing the safety belt, the child fell approximately 10 feet to the ground onto Jefferson Street. He then ran north from the scene leaving the child behind.
He will be booked into the San Diego County Jail for hit and run with injury and child endangerment. The investigation is still on-going by the police and an auto accident lawyer; and, more information will be released as it becomes available.
