CARLSBAD–Carlsbad police responded to a radio call of two males fighting in Stagecoach Park.
Police spokesman Sergeant Mickey Williams says the reporting party said that one of the subjects stated, “I don’t want to shoot you,” but did not see any weapons.
Upon arrival, the officers contacted the victim who had sustained lacerations to his face from the suspects. The victim told the officers while he was on the east side of Stagecoach Park two suspects; both white males in their 20s, approached him, and threatened him.
One of the suspects had a knife and the other had a handgun. The suspects demanded the victim’s cell phone and money. When he refused to give them his property the suspect with the handgun struck him in the face with the gun. The victim and suspects fought. The victim was able to break free and ran away from the suspects.
The victim declined medical treatment. Officers searched the area for the suspects, but were unable to locate them.
