Man in stolen vehicle arrested in home invasion robbery

February 12, 2020 By sdcnews

ENCINITAS–A man suspected of a home invasion led Sheriff’s deputies in a stolen vehicle pursuit in Encinitas on Monday.

California Highway Patrol received a call, shortly after 11 p.m., to be on the lookout of a stolen black Chrysler Pacifica Van. The vehicle was taken in a home invasion.

The vehicle was traveling southbound on I-5 in the Encinitas area. CHP units observed the vehicle matching the description traveling southbound on I-5 north of Santa Fe Driver and attempted to initiate an enforcement stop. The driver failed to yield to the emergency lights and began evading the units at a high rate of speed. CHP units were able to utilize a successful spike strip at I-805 southbound at El Cajon Boulevard. The vehicle came to a complete stop at State Route-15 northbound at El Cajon Boulevard. After a brief standoff, a San Diego County Sheriff’s Department K-9 was deployed to apprehend the driver.
