Homicide detectives arrested 64 year-old Santiago Gonzalez Abraham Jr. of San Diego and charged him with murder.

The victim was a 43 year-old white male whose name will be withheld pending family notifications.

On Sunday, at approximately 3:15 a.m., officers responded to a radio call of a male who had been stabbed in the 400 block of Broadway in downtown San Diego. Officers located the victim on the sidewalk who was suffering from stab wounds to his upper torso. Officers and medical personnel rendered aid to the victim and he was transported to a local hospital. The victim was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was in a verbal altercation with another male when he was stabbed. Officers assigned to Central Division arrived within one minute of receiving the radio call and took the suspect into custody at the scene.
