Man Fatally Shot At Lakeside Mobile Home Park Identified

May 1, 2019 By sdcnews

LAKESIDE–The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has released the name of a man found fatally shot last week at a mobile home park in Lakeside.

The victim has been identified as 65-year-old George Hernandez from Lakeside. The cause of death was a gunshot wound, and the manner of death has been ruled a homicide, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The second victim has been identified as 65-year-old Elwin Ray Downs from Lakeside. Downs is still receiving treatment at the hospital for his injuries.

The suspect, Felix Joseph Hernandez, is still in custody on charges of murder in the first degree and assault with a firearm on a person.

On April 26, at about 4:30 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a call of a reported shooting 13400 block of Highway 8 Business in Lakeside. Deputies found a 65-year-old male in the parking lot of the mobile home park. He had suffered a gunshot wound to his torso. Deputies assisted the male until paramedics arrived and transported the male to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The first shooting victim said there was another victim inside of a nearby residence. Deputies checked the residence and found another 65-year-old male who was unresponsive. Deputies started life saving measures until paramedics took over. Unfortunately, life saving measures were unsuccessful and the male was pronounced dead.
