EL CAJON–A man was arrested by El Cajon police for fatally beating a four-year-old Chihuahua named “Chico” in a El Cajon neighborhood.
On Thursday, police arrested Troy Anthony Hilliard, 23, for cruelty to animals. Hilliard lived in a neighboring apartment complex and was visiting friends prior to the attack.
On January 11, the Chihuahua wandered into the courtyard at 1123 E. Lexington Avenue. The dog commonly wanders into the yard, and the children who live in the complex play with him. However, on this date, Hilliard, who was unknown to the dog’s owner, ran towards dog and kicked him. He flew the dog into a fence and the suspect kicked him several more times. The suspect picked “Chico” up and threw him over the fence. The dog had died as a result of the attack.
Hilliard was booked into San Diego County Jail.
