Encinitas, CA–A male motorist involved in a traffic collision in the north county has died from his injuries, the Sheriff’s office said Thursday.
The driver’s identity has not been released pending notification of his family.
North Coastal Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 7 p.m. report of a traffic collision in the area of the 900 block of Encinitas Boulevard in Encinitas. Witnesses reported to first responders that one of the occupants inside a 2007 Toyota Corolla was trapped inside the vehicle, Sheriff’s office spokesman Deputy David Sanchez said.
Encinitas Fire Department personnel arrived on the scene and advised the male occupant of the vehicle was dead. There were no other injuries in the collision.
The Sheriff’s Department “STAR” team and traffic investigators are investigating the cause of the collision. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the cause of the collision.
