RAMONA–Detectives are investigating a carjacking and assault of a driver in the area of Ramona.
The victim said his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend had chased him through town until he eventually stopped at 2405 Main Street in Ramona.
Once stopped, the suspect, later identified as 25 year-old Ricardo Macedo-Frausto and his unidentified companion confronted the victim regarding his relationship with his ex-girlfriend. Macedo-Frausto and the second suspect attacked the victim, punching and kicking him in the face, causing minor facial injuries.
Following the attack, Macedo-Frausto entered the victim’s vehicle and drove off. The second suspect drove off in Macedo-Frausto’s vehicle.
The victim told deputies he and the suspect had been contacted a short time earlier by an San Diego police officer who was working a road closure on Highway 78 in San Pasqual Valley. When he stopped for the road closure, the victim told the officer he was being followed by an unknown vehicle. The officer contacted the second vehicle, driven by Macedo-Frausto. After determining there was no criminal violation, the officer released them both.
Deputies contacted San Diego police and obtained Macedo-Frausto’s name and residence location. They drove to the residence and located Macedo-Frausto, who admitted he had “snapped,” because he was jealous the victim was dating his ex-girlfriend. Macedo-Frausto admitted to assaulting the victim and stealing his car.
Macedo-Frausto said his companion, whom he refused to identify, took the car following the confrontation.
Ramona detectives are investigating the incident.
