Encinitas, CA–Sheriff’s deputies are warning parents about a man who attempted to walk away with a 5-year-old girl at a North County beach Sunday afternoon.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. in the 400 block of West B Street at Moonlight Beach.
An unidentified male took the hand of the child and attempted to walk away with her. The mother immediately took a hold of her daughter’s hand and yelled at the man. The man fled southbound. The child was not hurt, and is safe with her mother, according to authorities.
The man was described as white, in his mid-30s, 5 feet, 5 inches tall, 160 pounds, skinny with short or possibly buzz-cut blonde hair. He was wearing only gray sweatpants and no shoes or shirt.
Detectives are conducting an investigation.
