Man Arrested In Fatal Shootings In Palm City And Chula Vista

September 11, 2015 By sdcnews

SAN DIEGO–On Friday, San Diego homicide detectives and Chula Vista detectives arrested and booked a 27 year-old Chula Vista man for the murder of two people in Palm City and Chula Vista, a San Diego police department spokesman said Friday.

Luis Alberto Ruiz was in custody on another matter at the time of being booked.

On July 9, San Diego police officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 2600 block of Gould Lane. Officers found two male victims,’ ages 25 and 22 years-old, in the street suffering from gunshot wounds. Both males were transported to a local hospital by medics. The 25 year-old victim, Roberto Soria, died shortly after arriving at the hospital. The 22 year-old victim continues to recover from his injuries.

About one hour after the shooting in San Diego, Chula Vista police officers responded to a shooting in the 300 block of Quintard Avenue. At that location, they found 24 year-old Luaiza Burgos-De La Torre suffering from gunshot wounds and she was subsequently pronounced deceased.

On Friday, San Diego homicide detectives and Chula Vista detectives booked 27 year-old Luis Alberto Ruiz of Chula Vista for the murder of both Roberto Soria and Luaiza Burgos-De La Torre. Ruiz was in custody on another matter at the time of being booked.

Ruiz is scheduled to be arraigned in San Diego Superior Court on September 16.
