ENCINITAS–A 64 year old male was arrested on Wednesday after setting his vehicle on fire outside a hotel, Sheriff’s deputies say.
At 10:43 p.m., Sheriff’s deputies were called to a vehicle fire at the Howard Johnson’s Hotel located at 607 Leucadia Blvd. in Encinitas. During the investigation, it was determined, 64-year-old Jonathan Summers lit his own vehicle on fire in the parking lot after being upset over a pending eviction from the hotel. Deputies attempted to contact Summers in his hotel room when they noticed smoke coming from under the hotel room door. Entry into the smoke filled room was made and Summers was arrested for arson and booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
