Man Arrested For Carjacking

March 21, 2016 By sdcnews

SPRING VALLEY–A man who carjacked a driver at gunpoint, and led police on a traffic pursuit in San Diego was taken into custody Friday.

Sheriff’s deputies say a man was carjacked at gunpoint while walking to his parked vehicle at a fast food restaurant near Campo Road and State Route 94 in unincorporated Spring Valley. The man drove off in the victim’s Toyota Tundra. Deputies from the Rancho San Diego Station responding to the call observed the victim’s vehicle driving near Cuyamaca College in Rancho San Diego and attempted to stop it. A traffic pursuit ensued from the Rancho San Diego area onto westbound State Route 94 into Spring Valley. The driver exited the highway on Avocado Boulevard and ran from the carjacked vehicle at Calavo Drive and Del Rio Boulevard.

Deputies searched the area and found a male matching the suspect description in the area.  Possible evidence linking the male to the carjacking was recovered and he was detained.

Sheriff’s detectives are still investigating the incident.
