VALLEY CENTER–Two people in a stolen vehicle died in a traffic collision in Valley Center, police said on Sunday.
The incident began when Valley Center Sheriff deputies located a Honda Accord which was reported stolen out of Escondido.
Deputies initiated a pursuit but due to the speeds and weather conditions deputies chose to terminate the pursuit and have ASTREA helicopter follow the vehicle. Shortly after discontinuing the pursuit, the stolen vehicle drove into oncoming traffic, crashing head on with a small compact vehicle. The suspect vehicle was occupied by three males. The driver and passenger were pronounced deceased at the scene. The third suspect was transported to the hospital for trauma type injuries. The victim in the other vehicle sustained injuries and was transported to Palomar hospital for treatment.
California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
