SPRING VALLEY–A 19 year-old male was arrested Tuesday by Sheriff’s deputies after he was caught with merchandise stolen from a Spring Valley home, deputies say.
A resident in the 10400 block of Moorpark St. arrived home and saw a black male adult wearing a backpack run from the front door of her house. Believing her home had just been burglarized; she called 911 and provided a detailed description of the suspect. A deputy from the Rancho San Diego Station was in the neighborhood and immediately initiated a search for the suspect.
Assets from ASTREA, additional patrol deputies and detectives from Rancho San Diego and the Lemon Grove Substation responded to assist. Within a few minutes, the first deputy on-scene spotted a possible suspect. Upon seeing the deputy, the suspect immediately fled on foot. The deputy gave chase, but lost visual contact of him.
A perimeter was set by responding deputies and the suspect was once again spotted walking into a nearby apartment complex. The suspect started to run again, but then surrendered when a CHP K-9 officer prepared to release his canine.
At the time of the arrest, the suspect, 19 year-old Ernesto Jaime Dominguez, was in possession of stolen property concealed inside his backpack he was carrying. Dominguez and the recovered stolen items were positively identified by the victim during a curbside line-up.
Dominguez was booked at San Diego Central Jail on one count of residential burglary.
