Carlsbad to continue TGIF Concerts in the Parks with enhanced security

By SDCN Editor

Carlsbad, CA–The City of Carlsbad’s beloved TGIF Concerts in the Parks series will return for the next three summers, featuring nine concerts each year and continuing a cherished community tradition.

The Carlsbad City Council approved the dates and locations for the concerts on January 14, following a review of last year’s event by city staff.

In 2024, the series introduced new security measures, including bag screenings and controlled entrances and exits, in line with best practices for large public events. According to the city’s report, these changes were implemented smoothly and will remain in place for 2025. While some attendees initially expressed concerns that the added security might detract from the concerts’ community atmosphere, feedback showed that the impact was minimal. Many attendees thanked the city for prioritizing public safety.

The concerts will continue at three popular locations: Stagecoach Park, Calavera Hills Park, and Alga Norte Park. Poinsettia Park, however, will no longer host concerts due to layout challenges with the new security protocols.

Looking ahead to 2025 and 2026, the city plans to extend the concert season to accommodate the Fourth of July holiday, which falls on a weekend for the next two years. This adjustment ensures the city can hold all nine concerts while avoiding conflicts with holiday celebrations.

“We’ll share more details about the 2025 concerts – including what bands will be performing – as we get closer to the summer season,” the City of Carlsbad shared in a recent newsletter.

The TGIF Concerts in the Parks series continues to be a highlight of Carlsbad’s summer calendar, drawing residents and visitors alike for evenings of music, community, and fun.
