OCEANSIDE–A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries when he ran off the road and collided with electrical boxes in Oceanside, the Oceanside Police Department said.
The Tuesday collision occurred, just before 10 p.m., near the Oceanside Golf Course in the 800 block of Douglas Drive.
Police officers responded to several calls of a collision involving a motorcycle near the Oceanside Golf Course. Officers and paramedics arrived on scene to find the 25-year-old motorcycle rider down and suffering from multiple injuries. The motorcycle rider was immediately transported to a local area hospital due to his serious injuries.
According to several witnesses, the motorcyclist was traveling northbound on Douglas Dr. at a high rate of speed with another motorcycle, from the area of Douglas Dr. and North River Rd. As the motorcyclist approached the bend in the roadway by the golf course, he failed to negotiate the turn and ran off the road crossing the southbound lanes of Douglas Dr. and colliding with electrical boxes off the road. The second motorcyclist stopped along with other witnesses and rendered aid.
Speed and alcohol played a factor in this collision. The investigation is ongoing.
