88888-1553-PoliceLineOneRedBlueSAN DIEGO–A 22-year-old male was taken into custody by police early Friday morning for the alleged murder of his parents, a police spokesman said on Saturday.

The suspect, Peter David Haynes of San Diego, was taken into custody near the shooting  scene. The male was armed with a handgun at the time of his arrest.

The victims have been identified as 61 year-old David Ellis Haynes and 62 year-old Lissa Danielle Haynes of San Diego.

On early morning Friday, the San Diego Police Department received a 911 call of gunshots and a person shot in the area of 1000 Tarento Drive. A police dispatcher could hear the sound of gunshots and a male asking for help from his residence before the phone disconnected.

Officers located the residence, but received no response at the door. The officers breached the front door and found a male and female victim inside. Both had sustained gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to UCSD Hospital, but succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased.
