SAN DIEGO–Millennium Laboratories, a leader in the science of medication monitoring and pharmacogenetics, announced today that it has partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County.
Millennium presented a $10,000 donation to the organization, as well as bicycles that will be distributed to children participating in the program. Millennium Laboratories CEO Brock Hardaway was also announced as a member of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Board of Directors, and offered Millennium employees volunteer opportunities with Big Brothers Big Sisters.
“Big Brothers Big Sisters is an amazing program that supports families and children in need right here in San Diego,” said Hardaway. “Due to current funding and volunteer shortages, these children often wait more than a year before they can be matched. I’m proud that Millennium’s employees and I can support the program and give back to the community in a meaningful way.”
Independent research shows Big Brothers Big Sisters has a measurable, positive impact in children’s lives. In a nationwide study, Little Brothers and Little Sisters were:
- 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
- 27% less likely to begin using alcohol
- 52% less likely to skip school
- 37% less likely to skip class
- More confident in their academic performance and able to get along better with their families
