LEMON GROVE–Authorities are searching for leads in the murder of a man found lying on the ground outside a Lemon Grove residence, the Sheriff’s department said.
The victim has been identified as 47-year-old Juan Martinez, of Lemon Grove.
Just before 9 p.m. on June 21, Lemon Grove Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call after local residents reported hearing loud banging on their front door in the 7600 block of Lemon Avenue in Lemon Grove, according to Lieutenant Rich Williams, of the Sheriff’s Department.
When deputies arrived they found a man unresponsive and lying on the ground outside the residence. He was seriously injured and had visible injuries to his upper body. Fire department personnel responded and attempted to revive the man but he was pronounced deceased at about 9:19 p.m.
Sheriff’s homicide unit is conducting the investigation and seeking the public’s help to identify the person or persons responsible.
The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has completed an autopsy and determined the victim’s cause and manner of death. The results of the autopsy have been sealed pursuant to a court order.
