CARLSBAD–Local teens will showcase their talent at the city’s Parks and Recreation Teen Scene this Saturday at Calavera Hills Community Center in Carlsbad.
The event will feature a “Battle of the Bands” judged by local music industry experts, a film festival with 5-minute movie shorts, a dance room with a D.J. featuring the Dance Unlimited dancers,” Gametruck, as well as an art café and game room.
“All the music, films and art showcased at Teen Scene are created by local teens between the ages of 13 and 19. The event fosters teen expression in a safe and fun environment,” said Rachael Shay, special events supervisor for the city. “Past winners of the ‘Battle of the Bands’ have gone on to open for major rock acts, play legendary venues and get airplay on local commercial radio stations, so it’s a pretty big deal, and a thrill to see the bands’ hard work pay off.”
The showcase will be held at the community center, 2997 Glasgow Dr. in Carlsbad. The event runs 4 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, January 28. Participants can save $3 by ordering discount pre-sale tickets. Pre-sale tickets, available for $5, will be on sale until 5 p.m. January 27. Tickets are $8 at the door. For ticket information, call (760) 602-7510.
