ENCINITAS–The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) and the Encinitas Sheriff’s Station on Monday have posted a 45-day suspension of the liquor license of Bar Leucadian in Encinitas.
Investigators say the action is the result of a four-month-long, joint-narcotics sting operation involving the ABC and Sheriff’s Department.
During the investigation, undercover investigators purchased cocaine at the establishment on four occasions, and both employees and patrons were involved in the sales. The investigation started after the detectives at the Encinitas Sheriff’s Station received a complaint.
During its suspension, Bar Leucadian is prohibited from selling alcohol for 45 days. The owner also agreed to other conditions of the license restricting live entertainment and hours of operation. Security must be present during hours of operation.
ABC officials say the bar will be on probation for three years. If the bar violates its probation, its liquor license will be revoked.
The investigation was funded through the ABC Grant Assistance Program.
