SAN DIEGO–Local artist Jake J. Romero will display his selected paintings this Saturday at a reception and exhibition at Sally and Henry’s Dog House Bar and Grille.
Describing himself as a contemporary landscape artist, Romero’s primary wish is to convey vague memories and moments in his paintings while allowing the viewer to develop their own narrative. His work is influenced by the natural forces that surround him and memories of the great Southwest. He draws from various inspirations such as dreams, writings, naturalism, pop culture (primarily Marlborough ads), and mid-century modernism.
Romero’s paintings will be on display from 4 to 6 p.m. at Sally and Henry’s Dog House Bar and Grille, 3515 Fifth Avenue in downtown San Diego.
Art lovers can view Romero’s work throughout the month of September. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday 9 a.m. to 12 a.m.
