SAN DIEGO–The LightBridge Hospice Community Foundation, a non-profit organization that funds special programs for hospice patients and their loved ones, will host its 5th annual 5K walk on October 20 at Liberty Station.
This year’s focus is “Honoring our Heroes” who include patients, loved ones and Veterans.
“The walk is a great opportunity to remember loved ones as well as honor the family members, volunteers and staff who cared for them,” said Abby Murphy, Director of Development at LightBridge Hospice Community Foundation. “We’re also thrilled about our special salute to retired and active duty military service members this year. Our focus is very personal to us at LightBridge because we work so closely with San Diego’s Veteran community.”
Various activities include; best dressed pet contest and special dog stage for photos; opportunity drawings and a silent auction, and 5K or one mile casual stroll.
LightBridge Walk is October 20 at 7:30 a.m. (Walk begins at 8:45 a.m.) at Liberty Station, Naval Training Center Park.
Registration fee is $25; free for Active Duty service members and children under 12. Cost includes t-shirt, refreshments and entertainment.
“Proceeds from the walk help our Simple Gifts program that funds final wishes and dreams of patients and also supports our integrative therapies that provide comfort and relief when it’s needed most,” said Jill Mendlen, Board Chair of LightBridge Hospice Community Foundation. “We encourage people to form a team, join an existing team, volunteer or become a sponsor to honor the heroes impacted by the mission of LightBridge Hospice Community Foundation.”
