Del Mar, CA–The Disco Pop Shake, crafted by TJ’s Ice Cream, has claimed the prestigious “Best of Show” award at the 2nd annual Fair-tastic Foods Competition at the San Diego County Fair.
This vibrant shake outshone its rivals in the “Theme-Sweet” category, which challenged participants to integrate the Fair’s retro theme, “Let’s Go Retro.” The Disco Pop Shake was crowned the best among winners from six categories, celebrated for showcasing the most delectable, innovative, and novel treats at the Fair.
The competition also featured a People’s Choice award to Candied Bacon-Wrapped Pork Belly Bites from Bacon A Fair. This savory delight captured the hearts and taste buds of a special tasters’ panel, earning it the popular vote.
Hosting the event was Rick Morton, who guided the proceedings with flair. The judging panel was Troy Johnson, owner of San Diego Magazine and a familiar face on the Food Network. He was joined by CBS8’s Shawn Styles, host of “Cooking with Styles,” and Rudy Acosta, co-host of “Despierta San Diego” on Univision.
The Fair-tastic Foods Competition highlights the culinary creativity and innovation of the participants, making it a must-see event for fairgoers and food enthusiasts alike.
