LA JOLLA–Local lifeguards spotted a Great White Shark 50 yards off La Jolla Shores on Monday afternoon.
A lifeguard spotted the 12 to15 foot shark in the ocean at about 3:15 p.m.
As a safety precaution, San Diego lifeguards closed beaches in La Jolla, including Scripps Pier and the Marine Room.
Advisories warning beach-goers of a shark sighting were posted in the Cove, the Children’s Pool and Black’s Beach.
Lifeguards are conducting a search for the shark.
La Jolla Shores and nearby beaches will remain closed until further notice.
