Oceanside, CA–The Friends of the Oceanside Public Library are back – selling books and other items at the Thursday Farmers Markets in Oceanside.

The library’s booth will be located in front of the Civic Center Library at 330 North Coast Highway (south side of the fountain pool), every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., weather permitting.

The public can browse individual titles and safely purchase items at the newly arranged Farmers Market space, which has been expanded for safety and to provide for proper social distancing. For those not ready to shop in this manner the Buy-the-Box Drive-Through Book Sales remain open on Tuesday and Saturday mornings, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., behind the Civic Center Library at 602 Civic Center Drive.

Boxes of books are sorted by author or categories and sold for only $5 per box. Paperbacks are also sold by the bag at $5 per bag. Visitors will drive through the alley to the side door of the facility, and must wear a face covering and remain in the car. The sales are cash only and the prepacked packages will be placed in the car’s trunk by a volunteer.

All fundraising efforts by the Friends of Oceanside Public Library are used to support Library programs and services. Like many organizations, the Friends’ ability to raise funds has been severely impacted by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The public can make a difference by visiting oplfriends.org to donate or become a member for as little as $10 per year.

For information about making book donations to the Friends, call (760) 473-4733.
