LEMON GROVE– Hundreds of students at five schools in the Lemon Grove School District will lace up their sneakers and walk to school on October 9 in celebration of International Walk to School Day.
This celebration is part of the Lemon Grove Walk and Roll to School Safe Routes to School Program implemented by WalkSanDiego.
The Lemon Grove Academy Elementary School (LGA Elementary) will host City officials on October 9 as they celebrate International Walk to School Day. The excitement begins at Firefighter’s Park (the skate park) at 7:30 a.m. where students will be joined by Councilmembers from the City of Lemon Grove to walk to school together from the intersection of School Lane and Central Avenue to the school entrance on 7885 Golden Avenue. The celebration will continue at LGA Elementary’s Peace Circle where there will be drawings and prizes for participation.
Please join the City and elected officials, the School District, and WalkSanDiego as we help students at LGA Elementary safely celebrate International Walk to School Day on October 9.
The International Walk to School Day activities are part of an effort in promoting physical activity, a healthier environment, reduced traffic congestion and pollution near schools, and taking back our neighborhoods for people on foot and bicycle!
Other Lemon Grove schools organizing events for the 2013 International Walk to School Day events include Mount Vernon and San Miguel Elementary Schools. San Altos, Monterey Heights Elementary and LGA Middle are promoting Walk to School Day and promoting healthy lifestyles, a cleaner environment and decreased traffic congestion.
