NATIONAL CITY–Kimball School’s Student Council Leaders would like volunteers to pledge hours to fix and clean their neighborhood this summer. The Neighborhood Organized Workforce (NOW) is a grassroots effort of students, parents, seniors, and anyone willing to help out in Old Town National City (OTNC).
The NOW volunteer pledge drive begins June 4 and ends July 2. The goal is to sign up over 5,000 volunteer hours to clean the neighborhood, fix a local recreation center, and help the Kimball Staff prepare for the first day of school.
Kimball Principal Sonia Ruan states, “I’m excited that our students have an opportunity to develop community responsibility by getting involved in improving their neighborhood.”
The NOW pledge card (PDF)is available at Kimball Elementary and online at www.nationalcityca.gov. It gives detailed information about the program. Volunteer efforts will be supervised and coordinated by existing organizations such as the City of National City, Kimball School, St. Anthony’s Ministry, Paradise Creek Education Park, and Christmas in July. Volunteers will be entered into a chance to win various prizes thanks to sponsors – Mile of Cars Association, John’s Incredible Pizza, San Diego Pretzel Company, and CP Manufacturing.
