SAN DIEGO–Kaiser Permanente San Diego today announced the appointment of Edward Littlejohn to the role of chief operating officer. Littlejohn will lead Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospital operations in North County, including oversight of Kaiser Permanente’s North County membership growth strategy, facility expansion and delivery system build out. He will be responsible for developing strong partnerships with Kaiser Permanente’s contracted health care partners in North County including Palomar Pomerado Health System.

Prior to joining KP San Diego, Littlejohn served as the chief operating officer for Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) – John Randolph Medical Center, in Hopewell, Virginia where he oversaw a 147-bed acute care community hospital with more than $98 million in net revenue. During his tenure he developed an urgent care center, established a Hospitalist Program, and launched an ASC joint venture with local physicians.
Littlejohn earned his master’s in public health from Columbia University in New York and a bachelor’s degree in health care administration from California State University, Northridge. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, jogging, traveling and spending time with his family.
