San Diego, CA–A 58-year-old inmate who fell ill at George Bailey Detention Facility on October 19, and later passed away at a local hospital died of natural causes, the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office reports.
The inmate, Richard Eshbach, of Oceanside suffered from complications of COVID-19, with associated factors of cirrhosis of the liver and pulmonary emphysema, Sheriff’s Office spokesman, Lieutenant Thomas Seiver said Tuesday.
Eshbach was transported from his jail cell to a local hospital for medical reasons. His medical condition deteriorated, and he was pronounced dead.
Eshbach was arrested by the Oceanside police on September 17 and was booked into Sheriff’s custody for stalking, violation of domestic violence court order, and violation of a court order.
