Helicopter crashes in San Diego Bay

SAN DIEGO–Harbor Police responded to a report of a helicopter crash Sunday evening in San Diego Bay near the Coronado Bridge.

A Harbor Police patrol vessel arrived on scene within minutes and assisted the pilot from the wreckage. The pilot an adult male was the only person onboard the helicopter at the time of the crash.

The Harbor Police vessel transported the pilot to a near by dock, where he was treated by San Diego Fire Department Paramedics and eventually transported to UCSD Hospital, where the pilot is being treated for the injuries he sustained.

The cause of the helicopter crash is still unknown and is being investigated by authorities.
