ESCONDIDO–About 56 sixth grade students from High Tech Middle School North County came to Palomar Medical Center Escondido Thursday to display art they created telling the stories of local cancer survivors overcoming the potentially deadly disease.
The experiential learning project, “Faces of Resilience” highlights the cancer survivors’ journey to fight the disease and interact with the medical professionals who provide life-saving care every day.
The students were partnered with 14 cancer survivors in a bonding and intergenerational activity to discover the journey and triumph of overcoming cancer.
