OCEANSIDE–Tri-City Hospital Foundation’s annual TaylorMade Golf ‘Fore’ Your Heart Pro-Am Invitational successfully raised over $125,000 this year to benefit the new Cardiovascular Health Institute at Tri-City Medical Center. The tournament took place Monday, May 9, at Shadowridge Country Club, marking TalylorMade’s 27th year as title sponsor.
The annual tournament attracts the best in the golf community from casual duffers to the professional circuit. Each golf foursome was accompanied by a golf professional that gets the competitive juices flowing. Since this was a Pro-Am Tournament, the golf pros were also competing for cash purses totaling $10,000. All for a good cause.
“Nearly 2,400 Americans die of cardiovascular disease every day,” said Pete Sanchez, Tournament Chairman and vice president of global human resources for TaylorMade Golf. “Cardiovascular care is literally at the heart of any effort to promote wellness.”
Proceeds will purchase an electrocardiogram system. An echocardiogram (also called an echo) is a type of ultrasound test that creates a moving picture of a heart that can be seen on a video screen.
“I hope everyone had fun. I know they saved lives” said Craig Lindholm, Board Chair of Tri-City Hospital Foundation. “Someday a family member, friend, colleague, neighbor—or even you—may need lifesaving cardiovascular care. When you do, it will be available at Tri-City Medical Center, and it will be there in part because everyone cared enough to play today.”
This year’s winners were Bob Lamkin, Chuck Yash, Dave Klenske and Pete Sanchez for the gross division. In the net division, Ozzie Bojorquez, Robert Hernandez, David Sherako and Bill Adams came in the first; Jay Hoffman, Bruce Kerstetter, Kurt Kohler and John Gutirrez second; and Edward Abadilla, Kevin Ford, Len Guiffre and Ed Hoffman third.
