OCEANSIDE—More than 300 guests gathered at Saint Margaret Parish Hall in Oceanside for an evening of food and fun at the 17th annual Gentlemen’s Gourmet Scholarship fundraiser.
The event, dubbed “Anchors Away,” was hosted by the North County African American Women’s Association, and featured more than 40 professional and amateur chefs competing for best dish.
Entertaining guests were comedian/actress Kim Coles and C.C. Sanders, a local singer who served as the event’s master of ceremonies.
The winners announced were:
1st place (professional) – Kevin Emory for his lobster dip artichoke and chicken asparagus chowder
- 1st place- (amateur) – Bert Cross for his chocolate truffle cheesecake.
- 2nd place- (amateur) – Seth Ocloo for “soup for the soul.”
- 3rd place- (amateur) – Ed Houston for his Bacon wrapped jalapenos.
- People’s Choice went to amateur chef Jim Long.
The Gentlemen’s Gourmet is one of many fundraisers for the organization. Proceeds from the event will benefit health and educational programs for women and young girls in the North County of San Diego.
