Fugitive, homicide suspect caught at Otay Mesa Port of Entry

May 31, 2020 By sdcnews

SAN DIEGO–U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Otay Mesa port of entry apprehended a fugitive wanted for homicide and another wanted for attempted homicide traveling in the same vehicle.

“CBP officers never know who they will encounter during their inspections and that can be dangerous,” said Pete Flores, director of field operations for CBP in San Diego. “Due to their vigilance and thorough inspections CBP officers apprehended these individuals.”

At about 3:30 p.m., May 27, a 35-year-old U.S. citizen woman driving a 2000 Honda Civic entered the border crossing with two U.S. citizens passengers, a 37-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman. Officers were alerted that one of the travelers was wanted and they escorted the vehicle and occupants to a secure location for further processing.

Further investigation revealed that the driver, Monica Cecilia Jimenez was wanted for attempted murder and Omar Alapizco was wanted for homicide with bail set at $750,000, by the Oceanside Police Department for the same crime.

Officials with the U.S. Marshals Service and the Oceanside Police Department responded to the port of entry and took custody of Jimenez and Alapizco.
