Four Males Lead Sheriff’s Deputies In Vehicle Pursuit

January 9, 2017 By sdcnews

BONITA–Four males Sunday caught burglarizing a resident were arrested after leading deputies in a vehicle pursuit in the South county, Sheriff’s deputies reported.

Sheriff Deputies from the Imperial Beach Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to a report of a possible residential burglary in-progress in the 5900 block of San Miguel Road in Bonita.

Multiple neighbors observed three black males loading a vehicle with property from 5902 San Miguel Road. The witnesses stated the men did not live at the residence. As the men left the area in a black Ford Focus, one of the witnesses followed them in his vehicle. San Diego County Sheriff’s helicopter, ASTREA, arrived on scene and began to follow the Ford Focus from the air.   As ASTREA followed the vehicle, another reporting party called the Sheriff’s Department stating the men had robbed his daughter while she was inside the residence. One of the men was armed with a handgun.

Deputies on the ground caught up to the vehicle as it exited Jamacha Road from the 125 freeway in Spring Valley. As two deputies approached the vehicle with light and sirens on, the vehicle immediately drove around traffic on the right shoulder. Deputies pursued the vehicle into the Spring Valley Swap Meet parking lot. The vehicle skidded to a stop and three males quickly exited the vehicle. The three male ran away from the area. A fourth male, a 17-year-old juvenile, remained inside the vehicle and he was taken into custody. The three suspects that ran away were captured shortly after by assisting deputies from the Rancho San Diego Station. All three men were identified as 19-year-old Michael Ricks, 18-year-old Parris Murrelle, and 18-year-old Zindel Johnson. A loaded .45 caliber handgun was found inside a backpack one of the suspects was carrying.

The 17-year old juvenile was booked at Juvenile Hall and the three adults were booked at the San Diego County Central Jail. They were charged with several felonies including armed robbery, conspiracy, and burglary.
