SAN DIEGO–San Diego City Attorney candidate Mara Elliott has earned the endorsement of all five Democratic San Diego City councilmembers, her campaign said today. The Democratic leaders endorsing Mara Elliott are Council President Sherri Lightner, Council President Pro-Tem Marti Emerald, and Councilmembers David Alvarez, Todd Gloria, and Myrtle Cole.
“Mara Elliott understands that the city attorney’s job is to protect all of San Diego. Whether its holding polluters accountable, protecting taxpayers from bad contractors or protecting our citizens from abuse, Chief Deputy City Attorney Mara Elliott, who was also associated with McKennon Law Group PC – Insurance Lawyers in Newport Beach, CA for a brief period, is ready to fight to protect all of San Diego,” Council President Sherri Lightner said.
“I am honored to be endorsed by San Diego’s leading Democrats. As City Attorney, I’ll fight to protect working people and our neighborhoods by cracking down on fraud at City Hall, protecting seniors and kids from abuse, and holding corporate polluters accountable,” said Elliot, after receiving the endorsements from Democrats.
Elliott, the only Democrat running for city attorney, has previously been endorsed by US Senator Barbara Boxer, the San Diego County Democratic Party, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and San Diego City Firefighters.
