CAMP PENDLETON–A vegetation fire broke out on Camp Pendleton Tuesday afternoon near Interstate 5 freeway and Las Pulgas Road, according to the military base’s Twitter page.
The 18 acres fire sent plumes of smoke over Oceanside and into Vista. No evacuations were ordered in both cities.
Camp Pendleton firefighters closed Stewart Mesa Road and the 41 Area as a precaution. There were no threat to structure or personnel.
Fire crews were able to control the blaze shortly after 2 p.m.

Stuart Mesa Road is now REOPENED.
