Santee, CA–Fire crews halted this afternoon an 18 acres brush fire that broke out Thursday morning near homes in Santee.
Fire crews responded to reports of the blaze around 10:45 a.m. near Mast Boulevard and North Magnolia Avenue in the Walker Preserve area.
A combination of ground and air support from helicopter drops prevented the fire from spreading further to residential areas.
A temporary evacuation warning had been issued for residents living near Ramsgate Drive and Hillcreek Road. Residents were temporarily placed at Pathways Church, located at 9638 Carlton Hills Boulevard.
No structure damage was reported.
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning in effect today until 8 p.m. due to strong gusty winds and low humidity throughout San Diego County and Inland Orange County.
