FALLBROOK–U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a woman in North County last week who was transporting cocaine and fentanyl in her vehicle.

At approximately 11 a.m. on January 14, agents pulled over a female driver in a 2003 Ford Escape who was traveling northbound on Interstate 15 near Highway 76.

As agents questioned the 39-year-old U.S. citizen driver, their K-9 alerted to her vehicle. Searching further, agents discovered several plastic-wrapped packages inside the SUV’s center console. The packages contained 12.6 pounds of fentanyl and 12.3 pounds of cocaine, which have a combined estimated street value of $332,520.

“Thankfully, these dangerous drugs did not make it to their destination,” said Chief Patrol Agent Aaron Heitke.  “I am proud of our agents’ continued dedication to keep our communities safe.”

The woman and narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration. They subsequently issued her a federal notice to appear in court. The U.S. Border Patrol seized the vehicle.
