FBI seeking man who attempted to rob Point Loma Credit Union

August 10, 2010 By Staff

SAN DIEGO–The FBI is seeking the public’s assistance to identify an unknown male who attempted to rob the Point Loma Credit Union in National City.

On Friday, July 16 at approximately 9:30 a.m., an unknown male attempted to rob one of the tellers at the Point Loma Credit Union, 3003 Highland Avenue in National City.

At the time of the robbery, the robber approached a teller and presented a demand note written on a full sheet of lined paper. The demand note demanded a specific amount of money. The robber also gestured to the teller that he was armed with a weapon. The teller advised the robber that he/she did not have the amount of money he was demanding and would need to get the money from the vault. The robber ordered the teller to retrieve the money from the vault and warned the teller not to contact police. The teller walked away from their teller station and alerted a supervisor, who initiated bank security protocols. The robber attempted to go behind the teller counter, but was unsuccessful. The robber left the credit union without receiving any money.
