Father shoots son after threatening his mother with a knife

December 24, 2019 By sdcnews

ENCINITAS–A father shot his son after he threatened his mother with a knife at their residence in Encinitas, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s deputies received a phone call for help from a woman at a residence in the 1200 block of Greenlake Dr.

The initial report was that the woman’s adult son, who is in his 50s, threatened her with a knife. She screamed for help and her husband came to her aid. Upon seeing the son with the knife, the husband armed himself with a gun and shot his son.

Deputies and paramedics arrived and the son was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The mother, who is in her 70s, was not injured. The father, who is also in his 70s, was questioned by detectives about the incident.
