Oceanside Library host publishing seminar for writers
November 16, 2019 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Professional book editor Laurie Gibson will present a publishing seminar for writers. The program is spiced with stories and tips designed to inspire and empower writers of all stripes. It will include insight into today’s book business as well as ideas and “under-the-radar” resources to help aspiring authors connect with literary agents and editors. Other topics will include suggestions for ways to improve the craft of writing and practical tips for book promotion.
Gibson is an editor with more than two decades of professional experience serving writers, book and periodical publishers, and a variety of other organizations (such as nonprofits). She’s had the honor of proofing the work of ground-breaking novelist Alice Walker, Brian Tracy, Yvon Chouinard, and several U.S. Secretaries of State. Laurie also taught copyediting for the Extension programs at both the UCSD and UCLA. Using her love of both teaching and storytelling, she developed “Publishing 1-2-3” to help writers learn what it takes to successfully launch their work into the world.
