Escondido man found dead in his apartment

December 24, 2020 By sdcnews

ESCONDIDO–Authorities arrested an Escondido woman Wednesday in connection with the suspicious death of a man found in an apartment with trauma to his body.

The Escondido Communications Center received a 911 call shortly after 7 p.m. from a female resident of an apartment in the 600 block North Quince Street stating that her roommate was dead. Officers arrived at the apartment and discovered an adult male inside of the apartment. He was unresponsive with signs of trauma. He was pronounced dead at the apartment. His identity is currently being withheld pending family notifications.

The woman who had called 911 was present at the apartment. Officers determined that she lived at the apartment with the dead man. The couple have been involved in a dating relationship and she had been recently arrested for domestic abuse charges. She was out on bond after being booked into jail on that previous case, according to Escondido Police Lt. Kevin Toth.

The woman was identified as 52-year-old Shelley Reaves of Escondido. She was arrested for murder and booked into the Vista Detention Facility. The incident is currently under investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call the Escondido Police Department at (760) 743-TIPS (8477) or visit police.escondido.org.
